Prairie Archives is a general line used book store that
offers
a
large selection of books, prints, newspapers, ephemera, posters and
paintings. We have been in business since 1971, starting out as a
specialist in Illinois history but quickly generalizing into all things
paper. Our store has 18500 square feet of space with no appreciable
empty surfaces to be found. Only the main floor is open to the public
but we continue to attempt to refine our storage space for easy
retrieval of various types of inventory. We are located in the heart of
downtown Springfield, Illinois, across the street from the original
State Capitol where Lincoln gave his “house divided” speech in
1858, just 2 blocks from the new Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library
and Museum and abut 3 blocks from the Lincoln Home. If one is
interested, it is easy to spend a day or two touring the dozen or so
Lincoln sites in Springfield and environs but our community offers much
more for the curious tourist.
